Welcome to WIJJF Jiu-Jitsu.
Japanese Jiu-Jitsu also known as Yawara, Ju-Jitsu and Ju-Jutsu, is an ancient martial art derived from Samurai warfare (Bujutsu). On the occasions that a Samurai would find themselves without their main weapon such as the Naginata or Katana, they would use use Jiu-jitsu to overcome an aggressive and often armed opponent.
There are many styles and personal preferences depending on instructors. At WIJJF we run classes based on different aspects of Jiu-Jitsu, from gentle technical classes, Pads and fitness classes to and Rendori (Sparring).
Japanese Jiu-Jitsu is generally taught as a self defense against an aggressor, unlike Judo or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu which are sports following certain rule sets.
Japanese Jiu-Jitsu is both elegant and brutal, even when studying the gentle technical aspects of the art.
Perfection is an ongoing journey,
